another question about file 2 (4th year ) Reading and writing , the text about the robots .Shall we adapt it or let it as it is and neglect the modal "might " which occurs in the text ?
I think that they have to change these books as soon as possible .

You are not obliged to use those texts. If you can adapt them it's ok otherwise find and text that fits the objective and the grammar points to be taught. And be sure they will change the book next year.
I remember a teacher in a middke school didn't use the book during the whole year. I don't really know what was she doing without the text book.

all what you have to do to is to follow the syllabus that document in french , , is the key of teaching english and don't try to make things simplified ,because many things must be known give teachers the maximum to guarantee the minimum
you have to add the grammar points , the pronunciation and now the NEw BEM guide it must be taught everyday and part of the teacher's job

Don't get confused as the ministry itself is confused and even the inspectors. they are asking for help since they do'don't understand really what to do.Our inspector charged me to have a meeting with colleagues and yesterday he asked me to have another one next Tuesday. well don't get confused since you haven't the 4AM. well follow the plannings sent by the ministry % SUGGESTIONS DE REPARTITIONS MS1/ MS2" they are a little bit complicated but follow tem until we finish our simplified plannings inch ALLAH

Thank you very much OUm Nadji. At the end there is someone who insures that the book will be changed next year. But the idea to imitate the French teachers is a little big tiring. I don't understand how can a teacher seek for thousands of activities and texts to do his job? That's none of our business, isn't it? Personnaly I'll just do two things for this year: avoid teaching the omitted lessons, prepare my exams according to the new method of exam building so my pupils won't be surprised. And next year incha ALLAH i'll carry out them when I have the new text book.

cocerning the book:As we have it , we will use it . Theyshould send the new one /ones this year .so, i'm going to make my best by adapting l , searching to prepare pps well even those of 1 am,i think they are the most important and difficult to teach

I noticed this problem a two days ago. Thanks god I had some old pictures about traffic signs. They are quite useful..Just draw them, stick them on tye board and give examples about an obligation and another about prohibition. Don't forget to focus on the synonyms:
prohibit= ban = prevent
then their opposites
allow= permit
so they can use them or at least check them and understand in which context are used.
the is another problem, most pupils translate into Arabic and in case of " mustn't" they translate it as (لا يجب)
which is not correct. The correct meaning to express prohibition in Arabic is (يجب ان لا تفعل)

there is no new method , in this guide there are less tasks regarding to the one of october 2007
and what is new is the way we mark the written expression is now official , the one it was used in the last BEM June 2013 , the last work doen by the Americans here in Algeria in June 2008
It must be applied in class to make the learners believe that they can score at this task
and the guide contains for the first time how to plan tests and exams , this will help teacher plan their tests and exams in conformity with the BEM Exam
This guide must be the theme of training sessions in order to make the teachers used to it

I realised in the book a fault concerning athe use of " so" and " nither". both are used to show agreement. so is used to agree with a positive statement and neither to agree with a negative statement. but in the book they said on page 55 it is used to show disagreement.

I want to ask you my dearest colleagues .Why do we do two tests in a term ? since English is considered as a secondary subject (2 hours for the 2nd and 1 st year and 3 hours for the 3rd and 4th year ) with the coefission 1 for the 1st , 2 nd and 3rd year and 2 for the 4th year . .I am not against two tests in a term but I am against to work as if we are teaching Maths , Arabic or French which have more timing nd high coeffision .
When we do a test for the 1st or the 2 nd year , we 'll use all the hours of a week : the first hour is for doing a test and the last one is for correcting it .
Don't you find it wrong ?

The meeting will take place in Ghardaia with the participation of 25 inspectors and 25 "formateurs " teachers of English. I'll be the representative of my wilaya. the aim is to train teachers to help inspectors in meetings and seminars and may be they will have also some of the inspectors duties too like triaining the new teachers and a great number of teachers will benefit from this training too the British will train them

I realised in the book a fault concerning athe use of " so" and " nither". both are used to show agreement. so is used to agree with a positive statement and neither to agree with a negative statement. but in the book they said on page 55 it is used to show disagreement.
in fact there is no agreement at all in both cases.

where is the agreement? there is a responce to a statement where the speaker expresses that he or she is identical in the same action or verb or situation .

we are still here waiting for any news .Personally , I am working according to the new devision .I am trying to take what I need from the books if not I adapt according to the needs .
Still have problems with the 1st and 2nd year levels since the numbers of the hours isn't enough to work well .
And honestly and frankly , I am eager to hear that they are really changing the books according to the new changes because some learners don't really undersatand how to use the books they have bought .

the work we did was deviding the projects learning sequences into sessions and defining the objective of each esession
later on, we'll devide eacjh session into lessons
in our region ,we have been working with sessions fsince 2010 so we don't have a big probem now
so, the project is devided into 3 learning sequences .each sequence into sessions (learning objective in the new yrearly devision ) .sessions will be devided into lessons .how many? according to you ,your pps and of course the time we have to end the syllabus

i don't now if we can finish the progrm
i have 3mas classes ,now problem ,i'm reaching the end of project one without problems ,but for 1ms impossible
did those 'deciders ' know that it's the first yeas and that we have pre-file

Now concerning the achievement of the programme of the 1st year , I don't think we 'll be able to finish it .I have always believed that the 1 st year learners should study only the simple present to master it very well (describig dairy activities , adverbs of frequency ) and in the 2nd year they study the past simple . The future simple with "will" should be left and taught in the 3rd year .And of course every year we do revision of all the tenses they have already studied
I hope you'll give me your opinion about my idea .
we all have good ideas ,as i think,for our pps because we are the ones who know them.but there are things we are obliged to do or follow

Well there is nothing more to do with teaching. The only piece of advice I can give you do whatever you believe it is necessary for your pupils. Teach them grammar; vocabulary, anything you think it is helpful for them to improve their ******** especially at the 1AM and 2Am. concerning the book; it will be changed for sure but until that time we have to manage to find what is adequate for your learners. Would you tell me whose teacher has got the draft so we can have a sample.

Concerning your problem with the forum it is a question of low flow of the internet. I have the same problem and sometimes I wait for an hour to send a message.

there is another problem we should mention here .some colleagues ,even in the same school never share ideas or documents .if they have something ,they keep it for themselves .to be the best ,i think
Others follow inspectors as their shadow as we say in arabis , the worst is that they have influence on them
the worst of all is inspectors themselves .of course not all of them , when visiting teachers ,women , they expect making friedship or i don't know what kind of relashioship with them .So,if a woman ,even married as for my case ,do not speak with them for long times , don't lough or be veryyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy outgoing ,she is not good teacher
on the other hand , if a woman is very cheerful, ...........?With them ,she will be the best and have lot of apportunities
it's really disappointing .

Excuse me, NADJI1, Aren't you exaggerating when talking about the behaviour of the teachers and the inspectors? Having 27 years of teaching,I can tell you that some INSPECTORS and not all of them of course ARE following the teachers as their shadows (to reproduce your words), just because they are in need of their experience and not more. Add to this, if any inspector tries to make a relation of any type with any teacher, it comes from the teacher her(him) self for their profit.

i didn't mean teachers who follow inspectors for their instructios or new information ,but those who are always in contact with them sending presents, and behaving as spies for them of course for their own benifit.
of course this depends on teachers themselves ,we are all working in education .but really some inspectors don't write good reports after a visit and also don't give them good marks because they are not their friends
on the other hand as i have seen with my own eyes,an inspector visited a teacher of his" friends" but she didn't do well ,so he told her that he ' ll return 3days later so she prepared herself well and the ispector presented her as a perfect ,extraordinary teacher

we,teachers,or inspectors must be objective ,tell the truth and accept it.

You are right Mrs Oum nadji. I have been teaching for 23 years so far and I was visited just twice in 2002 and in 2007. My last mark was 14 and I have the 11 th grade. On the other hand most "male" inspectors visit "female" teachers more than male teachers and they do visit the beautiful one and not the ugly ones.. But not all of them of course. But don't worry they can do nothing if you refuse to speak with them or you don't like to keep in touch with them.
I finish wit this real joke that happened last year in our school. A married lady who teaches History and Geography at our school had a pupil who suffers from a psychological problem.. he asked her to add him some marks and pray for her telling her " Inchallah you will be very beautiful" hhhhhhhhhhhhhh he realized she wasn't beautiful

Tha idea to work with Porject and not Files was suggested in the last meeting of the inspectors ( September 2013 in Blida)
They were asked to ask the teachers to no more work with Files but with Porjects and instead of writing Sequence One we wrtie Lesson 1 and so on , this is the way the teachers of French work for them
For Example : Projet 1 : Narratif ( all the 3 sequences of the projet are narratif , the tasks are narrtif the reading is narratif and of course the situation of Integration which takes them a week is about narratif ) Their Books serve this type of plan
Now let's see our books open any page of any level you will find not less than Two learning objectives , if we use this type of work we hve to FORGET about the MANUALS so teacher will just refer to the learning objectives of the syllabus and plan everything ( each teacher will make a book for himself of herself)
Just ask your colleagues of French and they will explain you .

The project is devided into 3 sequences , each sequense into sessions - the number depends on the ******* .
the session is devided into lessons - the number depends on the different ******** items and pps level.
So, as i understood from our inspectress we 'll write project 2 /sequence 1 /session 1/ Lesson1
Of course project is written only once -in the first lesson
at the end of each sequense , there is a week of integration
During this week, pps will do different kinds of activities , seen in the sequece
this looks like what we used to call "check" doesn't it?
WE ALL NOTICED THAT EVEN INSPECTORS AREN4T SURE OF WHAT THEY SAY
so , we try to do our best ,but we must follow the documents we have ,so that we'll present the same lessons every where .Although our form of work can be different , the ******* is the same
The term sequense is clear in the slimming /prog

i agree with u Mr NADJI it seems impossible to finish the program with 2 hours a week (listen and speak practise and produce ) some times i combine listen and speak with practise in one session but sometimes i can't SO PLEASE TEACHERS HAVE YOU AN ANSWER TO THIS ISSUE!

The problem is not in wrtiting Porject 1 sequenece...........
Our problem is in th Learning Objectives the teachers of French have ONE Learning Objective FROM the Beginning of the Porject till the end all SERVE the SAME learning objective
Which is not our CASE in one week we have more than ONE learning objectives it's real mixture and THoSE DECIDERS , they asked the inspectors to work with project and forget about file , the problem is not
there the problem is in our SYLLABUS , it's like a puzzle , what is planned in the syllabus is not
in the yealry planning
, what has been slimmed down is neither in the syllbus nor in the yearly planning and what the manuals contain has no relation with the syllabus , the yearly planning and the slimming and the most important the BEM exam which is edited from the BEM GUIE which has no relation with all what Ilisted above
If teachers work with the idea of project this mean they have to FORGET about the SCHOOL MANUAL , so each teacher will have to edit HIs or HEr Book
What I am doing personally I took into account the table that shows what lessons are omitted and combined and I am working as I used to do , this is what we agreeed to do here in my wilaya
May Allah be with Us Teachers Of English , the teachers of French have everything planned they only apply and for us they ask us to build a puzzle where the master piece is always unfound

you needn't to reteach the lesson. If you are talking about the project, ask them to write short paragraphs about means of transport. here is the idea. draw all the means of transport you know. write a short paragraph next to each drawing mentioning the history of that means of transport.
Nowadays there are many ways to travel. how many means oif transport do ypu know? what are they? which one do you prefer,
write a paragraph of 8 to 10 lines about the topic.
if you feel you have already done this topic and don't want to repeat it, just change it and make them talk about television, computer, industry,
it is not always ,necessary to carry out all the syllabus point by point.

I have and idea in fact many ideas but i don't have time to realise all of them. the exercise book. what do you think if we teachers agree to a standard exercise book for each level. so the teacher will be able to know what to write for each lesson and even if the pupil doesn't attend for any reason he can download the lessons from the net. we can even suggest more than one exercise book. i mean a sample exercise book.I need your suggestions..

your idea is so smart but I think to realise it we have to master the new changes in the programme and try to addapt what's in the book , the yearly plannings , the learning objectives and the exit profile of each level .

A question about the programme of the 2nd year level .Project one which contains file one and file two , in the 11th week , learning objectives , there is "GIVE ADVICE" using the modal "should" . I don't really know where to put this lesson which is in "file 3" in the learners books .
I don't understant how can we work correctly and in the same way !!! Which support shall we use in such lessons ?
In the old programme , "give advice " is with the topic of "health "file 3.How can we present it with expressing ability ?
Personally , am not going to present it now . I'll let it as usual , file 3 .

Well. I guess you have to present " expressing ability" in one week and " give advice " in another week. so keep on teaching by weeks this year until we have a new book.i mean don't worry about where to present it. feel free to present each objective in one regardless the old files.

I would like to talk about this Idea of PROJECT :
Till Now there is NO OFFICIAL document that asks the teacher to work with this Idea of PROJECT ( Like the teachers of French do)
What is mean by Project WORK is the final prodcution of the file , what we do during the file or call it project as you wish has no relation with what the teacher of French are doing , they teach with project for example
project 1 : informative
all the sequences , the texts , the task and the situation of integration serve the learning objective ( informatif)
anf their book and guides state that
which is not our case in one page we have more than two learning objectives
the
Idea of working with project was suggested to the inspectors in the meeting of Blida , they asked them to TELL ( No one showed them how to do that) the teacher to forget about FIle and write project 1 : lesson 1:..... and work
Now what are some of the teacher doing ?
the majority is still working as usual some have till now did not hear about even the new changes 1- :
1- Some are just writing Project 1 : lesson 1 :; and they omitted what has been omitted in the new changes adn they are teachinc as usual
2- SOme forgot about the book and they are struggling they are planning their own book , each teacher with his or her own book and everyday they are looking for new material to plan their lessons ( As if they are teaching in Private school)
3- SOme have omiited the lessons that have been slimmed down in the new syllabus ( by the way there is no new syllabus it's the same they just added two lesosn in the MS4 and omitted one in MS1 and replaced it again by another and one in MS2 which is the same with the one of MS3 and planned it by the end of MS4)
In One School teachers are wokinrg differently so how can we progress and reach our goal and the most important the majority ingore the NEw BEM guide which from it the BEM Exam will be planned

You are right in all what you have said .I'm still working with the files .I couldn't work with the projects for the reasons that we have different learning objectives in one file . How can we unify the objectives ??,
As I said before , we have the yearly plannings , the exit profiles and the BEM guide .I think we have to work with these three means to save our learners and lead them to what they must know . I guess it's the only way to help ourselves and our learners not to be OUT.

the work with project has this features
1- The Project work ( final production of the final which just a situation of intgration and too othe form of project work)
2- project based learning whicb is itself an approach
2- the work with "porjet" like our colleagues of French do
Thes best to work and kame things easier as you saidi to look at the table on page 20 and omit the lesosns that have been slimmed and work
Of course qwe have some freedom ( autonomy) to SARS what suits our learner and nebr neglect the BOOK , it is clearly stated in this document

At least we are free to teach freely until we have the new books cause the sheets we received weren't useful enough to help us overcome the difficulties. but in my point of view, i like the idea to teach by weeks.to illustrate, i teach eavh learning objective in a week. i can even name the lessons according to the week. lesson 1/lesson2/lesson 3 so i can make pupils aware of the changes and even recognise how many lessons are there for each objective.. this is the way until they send the new book.

Thanks so much my dearest colleagues .You can never imagine how much you helped and gave me strength to work. It's so useful to help one another since we have the same objectives ( to save our learners and facilitate our tasks )
We , teachers , should work in collaboration since our learners will take common subjects in the BEM exams and because there is none else who can help us only teachers of the same subject can help because we are in the field with the programme and the learners who are waiting for us to give them lessons and all what they need .So we are the most concerned .We should not wait for the others to save and help us .
Honestly , I am eager to see the new books but since we don't have them now , we shouldn't give up working .We have to solve it .

what i don't like for 1 ms is giving only one week=2 hours for what we used to call pre-file for the alphabet, school commends ............................. it seems that these 'deciders' do not live in algeria.

What happened SOME interpreted the New Instructions in a wrong way So they made the work Hard for their teachers . What was said to the Inspectors is JUST INSTEAD of WRITNG ( Listen and Speak / Goforward/ Discover the ********...... ) Teachers Write at the beginning of the File Project ( Here the PROJECT is the FINAL PRODUCTION of THE FILE ) Pupils used to do for each FIle a project work ,
NOW , they are JUST asked to DO ONE project in ONE TERM and this project can be about chosen from any of the files taught during the term .

For MS4 at the beginning of each file teachers discuss the NEw PROJECT WORK ( this is the case for ALL the LEVELS ) so for this level FIle + title ( first hour) then what comes after ( Lesson(1/2/3...) + Title the learning objective of that lesson )
Just a remark for the session which comes after lesson that deal with PPU or PDP + PIASP ( grammar / pronunciation) the lesson of Practice here teacher can WRITE Practice

what is new in the syllabus is the emphesis on the 3 IIP and the entry and exit profile and the PPU & PDP frame works
For the BEM guide , now it' smore practical and contains less tasks than the one of October 2007 which will make things easier for our learners sonce they will get used to few instructions
Concerning the Reference qqs they are omitted from the guide in order to avoid ambiguity for the learners duirng the exams , but this does not mean that teacher do not teach them ,.

what we meant by omitted Independent questions and in order to avoid any ambiguity they set that task they are used within a table
and for the book believe me my friend there is nothing official about that
Yes agree the teacher must not be the Slave of the book , he or she must SARS what suits his learners but the fact to neglect the book this is totally inacceptable

If we could neglect the books , we shouldn't ask our learners to buy them .Learners use the books either at home and at school .We may adapt some text but our and the learners' support is the book .
For the WH qqs . , I think that we should train our learners to answer them from the 1st year .They may be omitted in the BEM guide but learners have to know them .

i presented this lesson in file 1 using the data show ,it was very successful
at that time i still use the term file because we didn't meet our inspector or colleagues,but i tried to follow the yearly planning

we are dealing with travel and locating ,we don't have any dialoue in the present book so we should write simple ones ,no problem.we are used to this situation now
there is also dialogue page 27,just to hava some ideas ,but it is between a waiter and a customer .you can change the situation
in addition -of course to act 2 on the same page
so, i think we should start with a situation -dialogue - of course related to travel ...... qqs about it ..... then isolation of the stucture .....stating rules .....practicte

You are right Mr.Riyad .I noticed that in the syllabus and the programme of the 1st and the 2 year , they focus on Grammar lessons but in the 3rd and the 4th year's programme , they reinforce some grammar lessons and focus more on the reading comprehension and the written expression ( written production
I think that we should not neglect the grammar lessons in the four levels .

I don't teach the 3rd year learners this year , but I had a look at the omitted lessons of the 4 levels last September.
I remember that they asked us to teach the present perfect with EITHER "already and yet" OR with " since and for " for the 3rd year learners.
The present perfect occurs in the yearly planning of the 4th year this year although I don't really know in which context we"ll teach it .I am not bothered because file 5 is omitted in the 4th year programme .so , we'll have time to do the present perfect at the end of the year as a revision since we have already done this lesson with the learners last year (when they were in the third year )
I hope I could help and I wish that other teachers will send us theis point of view to share .

It is stated that we should omit predicting in file 2 seq 3 level 3am? Should we omit the hole seq3??? Is there anyone on the forum who teaches 3am and faced the problem????

to understand that you must have the slimming of june 2008
and it is clearly stated that is is omitted so u omit it
and the same for the present perfect it is complety omitted from MS2 and MS3

I don't teach the 3rd year learners this year .But what I've understood in the omitted lessons about the present perfect is :
it is omitted for the 2nd year but for the 3rd year they asked us to teach it either with already and yet or with since and four .And we'll reinforce and continue the other lessons about the present perfect in the 4th year.
Am I wrong ?

I don't teach the 3rd year learners this year but according to what I've seen about the omitted lessons of the 3rd year , they mentioned that the present perfect will be taught with either "already nd yet " or "since and for ". And in the 4th year teachers will do a follow up of this lesson .

Logically you are right since the learners are going to see it in the 4th year . but if you go to the yearly planning of the 3rd year , you'll find the present perfect with since and for in April in the 29th week .
Now if we , teachers , decide not to do it in the 3rd year and leave it till the 4th year , it's okay since we know what and why we are doing these changes and all of us or most of us agree on it .

and that yealry planning is the cause of all these problems
