thank you sir, i read all your documents before planning my lesson because sometimes just reading them, give me so many ideas.
I taught my pupils ( of second year) present simple (affirmative, negative, interrogative) in one hour but i feel that some of them didn't understand , can i add an hour to do activities to see if they all understand before moving to other lesson

well concerning your request normally the simple present tense has been seen since file 3 of the MS1 level , but this is the problem of our manuals learners need more practice
Don't worry since you have to tackle that tense nearly in each file since our program is cycling learning , so if you add hour try to add it beyond your official time table since your yearly planning ( I don't know in which wilaya do you work because in some of the wilayas of the center and even of the east the "academy has a software where it follows and supervises the teachers yearly planning so each seance is counted . What you can do try to print them tasks and ask them to do them at home and in class try to set 5 to 10 minutes to correct " orally" while they report the correction of the sheet you gave them.
In this file the focus is on describing biographies using the simple tense ( regular + irregular verb ) , ago and also using the Whqq question words , don't worry about the simple present tense your learners will see it each time you tackle a new file , and since you have an idea about the lack they have with this tense try each time to include and plan extra tasks to remediate and consolidate.
You did not tell me if you could download MS2 file 1 the one you asked about

thank you sir I download it and I read it and it is well organized.. before i wanted to do activities to revise the present but after what you told me i changed and i will teach tomorrow sequence 2 listen and speak.
there are no words to thank you enough for all the time and effort you put in to help all the teachers
hi everybody. i'm new to this job i mean teaching and i don't have much experience about the methods of teaching and the real problem that i face is how to deal with the books and how to use them while teaching . i teach ms2 and ms4 and i haven't yet started the program with the later and i don't know what to do , i took a look on the first file and i notice that it contains a " listen and consider " and '' tag question and intonation " and " read and consider" and at the end of each there is a kind of practice and my question is how much time should i devote for each and whether i have to devote one hour of the three which i have per week to teach for example listen and consider lesson and the second hour to teach tag question and their intonation and the third to teach " read and consider" lesson and so on till i finish the file ???? i really need help :( . by the way i have downloaded everything needed but i still don't know how to proceed and how to split the hours i have pr week to tackle all the sides of the file for both levels i mean ms2 and ms4
i need a kind of a guide or methodology to deal with the files of those two levels
i wish my teachers here can give me some aide for this issue

I think You are just stressed and it's not question of guide or methodology since you have here DETAILED lesson and file plans
There are not many methods that you are requested to apply just one LEARNER CENTERED TEACHING METHOD and the approach is COMPETENCY BASED APPROACH.
Concerning the books we are not supposed to teach the books otherwise you will be teaching CBA and not CBA , the first CBA is ******* Based Approach however we are asked to apply the second one CBA = Competency Based Approach , so DO NOT TEACH the BOOK Teach ABOUT the BOOK = the program and the syllabus .
Concerning how to proceed and according to the teacher's guide of the MS4 level :
1- you start your file with a discussion with your learners , you present the file and what they will see in it ( normally with this level the teachers start with the assessment entry test - an official test in the MS4 teacher's guide-
2- the first page of the file is entitled "Food for thought" so here you invite your learners to open their books have a look at the flash cards or photos and try to INTERPRET or GUESS what do they talk about , which will make DIRECT link to the next and first teaching skill LISTEN AND CONSIDER , so here there what is entitled "Before you Listen " or what we call in the newest of the teaching methods PPU and PDP " Pre-listening " , so here too you have a photo or task or anything that will lead you to the next stage "AS you listen " = During Listening so here the learners are invited to listen ( books shut) and try to INTERPRET your reading of the script and DO a written task ( they will listen to answer an activity not just for listening ) later they are asked to correct ...
the next stage which is the "after listening " here the learners have to come to a DEDUCTION about the NEW grammar item ( this is left for the next hour ) and it's better to apply it Using the PIASP method where the learners interact - interpret and deduce the grammatical rule by themselves ( of course with a well prepared detailed PIASP and Using MInd Mapping)
once this done the learners need to PRACTICE ( written ) through 3 Types of Tasks { 1- Based form task / 2- Meaning based task & 3- Communicative based task)
3- the same pattern for the other teaching skills " Read & write "
4 _ DO not care too much about the time you are not asked to teach the page of the book that contains Listen and consider in one seance you have objectives and a general aim to reach that's why you have to set a guided sheet for each lesson where you mention al your learning objectives and final AIM.
5 - be sure if you are not absent and not late , you will be in time because every seance is counted
6- It's the same thing and same methodology for all the levels , just since 2008 we are trying to focus on what the americans did here between 2006 and 2008 ( PPu and PDP lesson plans and Teaching with the ATF & AEF competencies) which serve better and quicker our manuals and program and very practical and achievable for our learners.
The most important thing is while teaching any stage of any lesson , your learners must " INTERACT - INTERPRET & PRODUCE"

for the MS 4 I'm so sorry I don't have a digital one but you have to be sure the summary I gave you is from the MS4 teacher's guide and you can ask your adminstration to provide you one and you will see
What I advise you is to relax and be cool do not lose yourself control , you are a teacher and you are there because your learners need you , what ever are these learners , they remain learner and you are their teacher.

Thanks a lot Sir for the teacher's guide .
With the New Look of the MS3 level Manual this guide may help the teachers in dealing with some tasks such the "Say it Clear ones"
What the teachers should bear in mind it's not a New MS3 manual it's the same book , just the designers have omitted "Read & write II" in most of the files , they moved some tasks which were planned in the Practice phase , sometimes moved to the "Imagine" section and the most important they slimmed down many tasks ,because the MS3 manual was unachievable with that great amount of learning objectives.

ما اعْوجَّ مِنْ خُلُقٍ لهمْ وَمُقَوِّمـا
اثــاره اخـلاقـه مَنْحـوتَـةٌ
في القلب لا تُنْسى وتبقى بَلْسَما

والضرب يأتي في العلاج مُؤَخَّراً
وَعْظُ النساءِ وَهَجْرُهُـنَّ تَقَدَّمـا
هو كالطبيب معالـج لمريضـه
برجو الشفاء وإن قسا أنْ يَكْلُما
هو والدٌ لا يَجْرَحَـنَّ شُعورَهـم
طلابـهُ ابنـاؤهُ كـي يرحمـا
من حسن اخلاق المعلـم رِفْقُـهُ
يَحْنو عليهم لن يَضِجَّ ويسأمـا
يبدو سعيدا إن بَـدَوْ ا بسعـادةٍ
وتراه إن حزنو ا بـدا متألمـا
اخلاصـه لله فــي تعليـمـه
فَتَحَ القلوبَ وأعْيُناً بعد العمـى
وَصَلاتهُ مَعَهُمْ يَكـونُ إمامَهُـمْ
ولسانـهُ لا يلفظـنَّ مُحَـرَّمـا
هو قدوةُ الطلابِ فـي اخلاقـهِ
والحرص كل الحرص ألاّ يأثمـا
وَيَبُثُّ فيهـم نخـوةً وشجاعـةً
ومحبةً حتـى يُحِبّـوا المسلمـا
هُوَ قائدٌ والجيـشُ هـمْ طُلاّبُـهُ
لا لن يخادعَ جيشَـه أو يظلمـا
يَهْدي لخيـرٍ للجِنـانِ مُرَغِّـبٌ
وَيَصُدُّ عن شرٍ حَـذارِ جَهنَّمـا
هـذا المعلـم يستحـق مَحَبَّـةً
لو كان فينا مِثْلُـهُ لـن نُهْزَمـا
إِسْمـعْ كـلامَ معلـمٍ ومجـربٍ
ومجرباً فاسْـألْ فلـنْ تتنَدَّمـا
هذا قصيدٌ فيـه نفـع فاغتنـمْ
ما كُلُّ مَنْ ألقى الكـلامَ تَكَلَّمـا

أما المعلمُ عنـد شوقـي كامـلٌ
والنقصُ في الإنسانِ كانْ مُحَتَّما
كادَ المعلـمُ لَـمْ يُميِّـزْ بينهـمْ
اني أرى في قَوْلـهِ قَـدْ عَمَّمـا
كَـادَ الـذي لله ينشـرُ عِلْمَـهُ
أنْ يُشْبِهَنَّ بِفِعْلِهِ رُسُـلَ السَّمـا
أو كالذي بِالعِلمِ عاش مُجاهـداً
وهو التقي على النصيحة أقْسَما
بعضٌ على الإسلام رَبّى نَشْأنـا

هل يستوي من كان يعبد ربـه

well concerning the copy books it's great to deal with them from from the beginning of the school year
how to deal with them depends on the level of your learners ,if your learners master well English or French you can from the beginning of the year train them on some abbreviations where they will be able to correct themselves ( auto-correction)
for example :
- gr -> grammer
- spl -> spelling
- punct -> punctuation
and so on.....
so While you correct the copy books you mention such abbreviation on the margin about the specific line where you notice the mistake ( underline it ) & your learner will look at the abbreviation and tries to correct it.
This is applied for excellent learners otherwise you correct the copy books regularly or try to move between the rows and have a look at your learners' copy books while they write down & advise them for any mistake they may produce
You can also while you correct , you mention the remark and talk to your learner about the mistakes he/ she made and next time try to see if your learners is progressing after the previous remark.

for example here is a sample of the MS4 level a PDP Reading lesson
4AM1 file One: Reading and writing
Function & grammar {learning objectives} : Describing seafood + locating( tag question+ prep)
pre-reading: activity 1p 33
while reading: Activity 2 + 3 p 33/34
post –reading : activity 4P34
swbat{ S= students / W= Will / B= be / A= able / T = to do...}: by the end of the lesson the pupils should be able to : talk about food and locate (using tag qqs-prepo)
N.B : The Observation Column must be filled everyday in order to enable the teacher Assess his teaching or
Nothing to declare ( if the lesson was successful) or If the lesson was postponed Because of any reason it should be mentioned here

1] if you are sure and certain of your question , so the intonation must be " down" or "falling" so your interlocator will simply yes "yes" = agree" with you.
2} if your are"not sure" + uncertain" of your question , so here it must be "up= rising" because you are asking for information

Testing :

• B / Mastery of ******** ( 7 points)

Part 1 [ 6 activities]
Part 2 ( written Expression ) – Situation of Integration-

Well for the capem , although I have tackled this before
here are some pieces of advice
Well concerning the CAPEM , be sure it's a normal exam , nothing special , if you are working for the sake of your learners so each day is a capem , don't care about the comission nor the inspector they are there to see you how to teach and how you care about Algerian learners , this is what every one should bear in mind , you are not there to please the inspector nor the commission.
So what I can advise you is
1- never be absent ( a teacher who is always late or absent does not deserve to be a teacher )
2- your daily documents should be updated , ( lesson plan , yearly planning , log book , mark book , pupils copy books ...)
your lessons should be planned to serve the principles of the CBA and learners teaching method.Set a column on your log book OBSERVATION one where you report daily remarks about the lesson performed and after each seance ask yourself those questions :
- What were my objectives for this lesson and did I reach them ?
- What is the relation or the link of all what I performed with CBA ?
- If I have to re-teach that lesson ; what shall I add , delete , consolidate ?
Be sure that all those questions the inspector will ask them to you the day of the CAPEM .
3- the most important is that you should be aware about your role and the learners' one also why are we teaching English to Algerian learners ? You will find all the answers to those question in the ( program and document d'accopagnement booklets in your schools)
4- the use of the board ( hand writing )
5- Use of visual aids or what is called nowadays VAKT + Pronunciation
6- Cahier de formation ( meetings and seminars )
7- Coordination
8- Take care about the advice that your inspector gives you during meetings and seminars and also he or she must pay you a visit before the CAPEM and he or she will make a report , so you have to take into account the remarks of that report .
9- During the debate use the "cahier de formation " and report all the remarks that the commission will make . Try if possible to answer and express yourself without influencing the members of the commission or the inspector
10- You will be asked questions about legislation like ( if you can join me by email I will send you a book about that at : yellowdaffodil66 at gmail dot com)
Those are some pieces of advice that teachers should take into account not only for their CAPEMS but in their daily work

you need an "adobe reader" because the files are in PDF format and also you need am application( winrar) to decompress the files because all the files are compressed

Concerning planning tests and exams , I advise my colleagues to use the BEM guide October 2007 ( the latest one which deals with the typology of the BEM tasks )
The Guide is not only for the MS4 level , but for all the Middle School levels , teachers must use it from the first test of the MS1 level , because it contains a great amount of tasks and texts , so if teachers wait till the MS4 level to tackle it , the learners will not be able to perform well at their final Brevet exam :

Well concerning how to teach any kind or type of lessons and the way you tackle them , I have detailed all that in my

For a beginner it's very normal to feel like that ,although you have all what you need if front of you , you are not able to do anything, it's very normal my friend
what I advise you to do during these holidays is to print all the documents that you need for teaching not only the lesson plans , there are important documents here too that deal with how to plan lesson plan , so what I advise you is to print the documents and read them carefully and you will see that you can perform any lesson in front of any level and if you have any inquiries , you are welcome here or on my personal mail : yellowdaffodil66at gmail dot com

concerning the strong form of auxiliaries, we use with negative and positive. the same rule is applied with the prepositions. (see 3ms book, say it clear.

Concerning the Teacher's guide for all the MS levels and as you said for the MS3 the one provided deals with the old version of the book and it does not go exactly with the way the book is planned now, but it helps you in "say it clear tasks" and also the ones of Practice & Imagine , what is new in the new version is that they slimmed the files in order to make them achievable and also now it is planned according to the new teaching methods ( PPU & PDP lesson plans)
here you can download a sample of the MS3 teacher's book ( old one) there are no new teacher's guide till now and the ones available do not really serve the teacher in his daily work specially after the slimming of the syllabus of June 2008 .
All what they deal with is the approach CBA and the Teaching method "learner centered teaching method"

well first you have to know that the Algerian Educational System is based on the Competency Based Approach and learner teaching method
So Bloom's Taxonomy is the Core of CBA since it deals with ( Knowledge: Recall data or information.Comprehension: Understand the meaning, translation, interpolation, and interpretation of instructions and problems. State a problem in one's own words.Application: Use a concept in a new situation or unprompted use of an abstraction. Applies what was learned in the classroom into novel situations in the work place. Analysis: Separates material or concepts into component parts so that its organizational structure may be understood. Distinguishes between facts and inferences. -Synthesis: Builds a structure or pattern from diverse elements. Put parts together to form a whole, with emphasis on creating a new meaning or structure. - Evaluation: Make judgments about the value of ideas or materials.
So this is Bloom's taxonomy and while performing your lesson you may deal with them all or some of them depending on the kid of lesson and you have to know that Bloom's Taxonomy work bottom down and bottom up
so for this lesson At School in USA you can plan it as read lesson where you teach it as PDP lesson and you can perform the Bloom's Taxonomy while applying the Three IIP ( Interact- interpret- produce) which are a great reflection of the Bloom's taxonomy , so your inspector will ask you the following question :
when were your learners able to Interact - interpret and produce ?
So you have to be aware about this and be sure at what moment of your lesson your learners were able to perform those 3 competencies because while performing them your learners are expressing their knowledge , they will also show their comprehension by interpreting oral or written messages , they will apply what they have learnt using the third competency ( produce) so we are dealing with the Bloom's taxonomy in our daily work.
For this lesson you can tackle it as follow:
1) Pre-reading : ask your learners to identify the type of txt (table) and from the title what do they expect the text will be about?
2) During -reading : you can use the book's activity ( filling Becky's letter)
3) post reading : you can use activity 2 ( where the learners will talk about Algerian educational system - you can use it an integrated situation -

Well to achieve this we need to apply the PIASP teaching method.
so the P= Presentation<Presenting the context in which the structure appears> ( for example using the script page 170 -where the time conjunctions- where they are written in bold ( I wish all the scripts were elaborated like that this will facilitate the teachers' work to apply PIASP )
so you ask your learners to read the script in order to make them notice the words written in bold ( so here your learners will deal with the first Bloom's taxonomy category (knowledge = defines, describes, identifies, knows, labels, lists, matches, names, outlines, recalls, recognizes, reproduces, selects, states.) where they will define and identify the conjunctions since they have seen some of them before .the Aim here is to make the learners see the structure ( form & meaning ) in context.
2- Isolation : the focus is temporarily on the grammatical item itself and the aim is :to get the learner perceive & recognize the grammatical item what it looks like and this goes also with the second category of Bloom's taxonomy ( comprehension where your learners will be able to infer, interpret, paraphrase, predict, rewrite, summarize,.
3- Analysis: Here you will try to make ur learners analyze the isolated items the aim is : to get your learners perceive how it is formed ( structure), how it functions and what it means and the rule that govern it.This has a great link with the fourth category Analysis" ( Blomm's Taxonomy) where your learners will be able to nalyzes, breaks down, compares, contrasts, diagrams, deconstructs, differentiates, discriminates, distinguishes, identifies, illustrates, infers, outlines, relates, selects, separates.
4- Stating Rule : Here after they analyze you help them to formulate the grammar rule .And this what Bloom called "Synthesis" where the learners are able to Build a structure or pattern from diverse elements. Put parts together to form a whole, with emphasis on creating a new meaning or structure through the following key words "reconstruct, relate, reorganize, revise, rewrite, summarize, tell, write.

1- the new learning objectives ( function + grammar ) it could be short drill or paragraph......
2- the corrected tasks.
3- their own productions as you said in listening ( in post listening they should be able to produce a free feed back , you check and correct , you may report the best one on the board or if you can correct all their productions , you may ask them to copy their own productions.
4- normally what the pupils see in ( listening- speaking - reading ) skills should be performed in "writing" skill" other wise the pupils will face difficulties to acquire what they have learnt.
5- To check if the learners have understood , we can ask them to do any written task ( quiz) , correct it then copy down.
what is sure if the three teaching skills are not consolidated by the fourth one " written" the learners will find difficulties in their learning process

you may set an agenda like the one set in the MS2 book before starting your lesson
or
you may ask them by the end to tell you what did they learnt or what was the lesson about
in both cases the title is very important but it should be a communicative one and in brackets you write the grammar note they saw
