Organization’s Name Organization’s Address Date Dear _______________: As a group of PhD students from ____________majoring in the field of material science, we are very enthusiastic about a research project that we have undertaken which has the purpose of developing new materials. These materials would have applications in energy, electronics, thermal electricity and other areas. Since our research is based on computer calculations and simulations, it requires a great deal of high-end computer use such as cluster or super computers. These are very expensive hardware. In addition, we would have higher energy costs for all the long hours of research efforts. With this letter, we respectfully request funding from your organization which would provide us with the opportunity to develop these new materials.
