Just stick to the cases that you have seen For the words that contain the suffix "ic" put the stress on the syllable before the the suffix ic example: mathematics: we put the stress on the syllable "ma "which is before " tics For the words that end in : tion , sion , ssion , cion ,put the stress on the syllable before the syllables which I've just mentioned example : television : we put the stress on the syllable: "vi" which is before the syllable "sion For the words that can be used as nouns and verbs at the same time,if it is a noun,we put the stress on the first syllable and if it is a verb,we put the stress on the second syllable example : the word " contact " can be a noun as it can be a verb.
