Islam
has been built upon five pillars. The first of these pillars of Islam
is to testify that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad is the
messenger of Allah. No one can beoome a Muslim without believing in
these two facts.
Before
the advent of Islam, the people of Arabia worـ shipped several idols
calling them their gods. These were creatures as well as statues made
of stone or other materials. The statues were made by those who
worshipped them. Those gods could do neither good nor evil. This was
clear evidence of the ignorance that prevailed in those days.

Islam
came with the call to worship the one and only god, Allah, the Creator
to Whom everything in the universe owes its Existence.
We worship Allah, the Almighty, for His own sake, fearing punishment
and desiring reward.
The
second part of this declaration of faith is that Muhammad (peace be
upon him) is the messenger of Allah. Muslims believe in all the
prophets whom Allah sent before Muhammad. Muhammad was the last
messenger to be sent by Allah to mankind. The message he brought from
the Creator was Allah's final message to humanity, the message that
guides man to the right path and to everlasting happiness.
