How to conjugate a verb in the present simple

Reminder : Verbs in the present simple can be classified into three categories

Verb to be

I am

He / she / it / singular noun: is

Verb to have

He / she / it / singular noun: has

Other Verbs

I / you / we / they / plural noun: verb does not change
He / she / it / singular noun: verb + es / ies / s

The Third Lesson in Phonetics

The lesson is about vowel sounds

The vowel sounds result from the pronunciation of the vowels ( a,e,i,o,u ) and the semi-vowel y



The vowel sounds are divided into 3 categories

The vowels or we can call them monophthongs: They are 12

We find this sound in the vowel u .For example the word but is pronounced like this /bʌt/ and this is the phonetical transcription of but

We can find it also in the vowel o like the word come.Note that the vowel e in the end is not pronounced.So,it is not put in the phonetical transcription /kʌm/only the pronounced letters are put

/We find it also in double o like in the word blood /blʌd

/It's found in ou like in the word double pronounced like this /dʌbl

The Negative Form

Verb to be
Am / is / are ( We add not) and let evrything as it is

Other verbs

I / you / we / they / plural..............do not + verb
He / she / it / singular ...............does not + verb

Examples

I am at home.....................I am not at home
She is happy.....................She is not happy
We are late..........................We are not late
They drink juice at lunch.................They do not drink juice at lunch
John likes movies....................................John does not like movies
