we put the stress on the first part (syllable)p
eg:
pen friend'

sport words:
*the stress is always on the first syllable
eg:
volleyball'

words of 2 syllables:
they r stressed on the first syllable if its not a prefix
eg:

finish'
happen'

words of three syllables or more:
they r stressed on the first syllable of the root
eg:
difficult'
organise'

words ending in 'ion'
they r stressed on the last but one syllable
eg;
infor'mation


words ending in ic
they r stressed on the last but one syllable
eg:
