Algeria a False Democracy

when I sat down to write my thoughts about the current situation in Algeria , I wanted to know first the meaning and the interpretation of the word " Democracy". I headed to a dictionary on my book****f in my home office. The dictionary has been lying there for several years and I have consulted this dictionary hundreds of times in the past few years.It had never occured to me that I would use this dictionary to look for such a simple , though overused word by the Algerian public. " DEMOCRACY". It was also until this time that I realized that this dictionary was a gift to my brother from one of his friends .
Under the term ‘Democracy’, one reads, “Government by all the people, usu. through elected representatives; equality of rights in society, group etc. Looking at ‘Society’ one sees a long explanation, but I plucked a portion of it: “Social mode of life, customs and organization of civilized nation.”
The most noticeable thing the one of us can observe listening or watching the speeches of our politicians is that " Algeria is a democractic country ".
Algeria is a democractic country ??? what a lurid imaginary.
I do believe that The Algerian government has committed, and continues to commit undemocratic acts in Algeria against what they call members of the OPPOSITION – its own citizens. It has broken international law and the Geneva Conventions many times with its brutal use of force and horrific violence against innocent people and their property, to intimidate and coerce the civilian population, and many segments from not adopting any beliefs that would leed to disagreement with the policy of the GVT, in furtherance of social, economic and, especially, political objectives.
By definition the Algerian government is guilty of imposing a false democracy on the free people of our beloved country.
If the Algerian government adheres to the democratic principles of ‘Government by all the people’ and ‘Equality of rights in society’ as it claims – that means including all types of people , from all walks of life , it would have prevented injustice against the opposition leaders in the 1990s , the assassination of BOUDIAF and the ignorance of the youth today. Instead, the government has tried to starve the anger of those inocent young men into silence.
Since the dawn of independence from France , politicians in Algeria get elected ‘democratically,’ but turn around and rule like ‘thugs."
The Algerian government and its ‘democratically’ elected cabinet has failed to make any real effect to provide the deprived youth with equal opportunities to have a better life over the last 2 decades, nor does it have any plans of doing so – they are rather patching a worn-out rug with lies and false claims in order to absorb the anger of the people.
I remember reading somewhere that people can be divided into three groups: those who make things happen, those who watch things happen, and those who wonder what happene.In the context to the injustice committed against us ,the Algerian youth , guys and girls , educated and non-educated , the community so far collectively belongs to the second group. We have been marginalized, and still can`t see any signals of reforms coming. THATS WHY WE ALL NEED TO TAKE SERIOUS ACTIONS against this false democracy and get our rights and make our dreams happen and have a stable and simple but happy life.
The GVT and its supporters may beat their ‘democratic drums’ around the world claiming that they are working for democracy and good governance. If the GVT wins, it will be a stupendous victory for ‘state terrorism’ – not for democracy. If I am wrong about this claim, then I need to get a new dictionary that may reflect a different meaning of the word ‘democracy.’ If I am right, then someone should buy the current RULERS of the country a copy of my tiny dictionary.
