here a space to learn about new words ,new idioms or everything about english vocabulary
I suggest that each member write down here the words and phrases wich look hard or uncommon for him , no matter if the other members knew it yet, it would be a good reminder at least, so let get started;
I have two idioms to share with you today
blue-colar worker ansd white-colar worker
the first one refers to a parson who performs manual labor ex: farmer ,plumber
the second refers to a person who performs intelectual work ex: doctor,programmer
also we can say pink-colar worker to design some works condsidered as women's work ex: nurse, teacher
some british slangs
any road = anyway
cheerio = goodbye
for donkey's years = for ages
dog's dinner = a mess
give us a bell = call me
hard lines = bad luck
I'm easy = I don't care
boo-boo means mistake in american don't confuse it with boobs wich means tits
to have deep pockets means to have lot of money

To have a soft spot for someone > to have a weackness for someone
to fall head over heels for someone > to fall completely in love
To be lovey dovey > to show the couple's love for everyone
To be the apple of someone's eyes > to be loved by someone
To be loved up > to live the warm feeling of love
puppy-love > teenagers's love
acid test = a test giving incontestable results
An arm and a leg = exorbitant amount of money
think outside the box = think creatively
Like it or lump it : said when you have no choice to accept a unpleasant outcome
