لماذا الجاحظ

روى الجاحظ أن امرأة جاءته وهو على باب منزله وطلبت منه أن يتبعها ففعل، حتى وصلت إلى حانوت صائغ يهودي فدلت الصائغ على الجاحظ وقالت له: مثل هذا·· ثم انصرفت· فأقبل الجاحظ على الصائغ ليستوضحه في الأمر، فقال له الصائغ: لقد جاءتني بخاتم وطلبت مني أن أنقش لها عليه صورة شيطان، ولما قلت لها أنني لم أر الشيطان من قبل، ذهبت ثم عادت بك وسمعت ما قالته لي عنك !·
