Hi
This is one of the seven rules for excellent English

Stop studying English words
Learn phrases only

Research by Dr.James Asher proves that learning with phrases in 4-5 times faster than studying individual words

So according to this rule memorizing words and their translations is a wrong way to learn English because it takes too long time.

To apply this rule, I suggest the following:

If in your readings, you encounter a new word you didn’t know before , post the complete phrase that contains that word , and then other members must found other phrases with the same word before posting another new word .

What do you think?:)

A very good idea but this way of learning depends on the learner him self... 0
It is a logic way of learning and this what we notice in learning a foeign lg ,dealing with sentences then extracting the words needed

Hi , thank you for your replies

The new word I learnt yesterday is “ STIFLED .”
In French, it means étouffé

So this is the complete phrase :

“But beneath this superficial calm there were in the heart of the young man, and perhaps in that of old man, many repressed desires, many stifled sighs, which vent when Faria was left alone, and when Edmond returned to his cell.”

From :The count of Monte cristo by Alexandre Dumas .

All you have to do now is posting other phrases that :19:contains the word -Stifled -
Bye .
