I am not a poet and I've never written poems sor far, neither in Arabic nor in English.
I however read some poems and listen to many songs lyrics.
One of my prefered english poem is an excerpt of Lord Byron verses about nature,
it is displayed in opening of the movie "Into the wild"(2007).
I find a pleasure listening to and repeating this peom, because I share with the author his feelings about nature .
However, the author feelings are so great and excited, that he could utter fluently and spontaneously such words, words that ordinary people can't make so.
You may tell me it's just because of lang-uage mastery, but how many people master lang-uage and don't write or utter nice poems?
I guess you may have also noticed that poetry noun in Arabic (chi3r) stems from feelings (macha3ir).
That is an explanation I have found about poetry.
Yet, I will let Lord Byron explain it more :

I can never get people to understand that poetry is the expression of excited passion, and that there is no such thing as a life of passion any more than a continuous earthquake, or an eternal fever.

– Lord George Gordon Byron. [1788-1824]
