Loneliness

"If I'm such a legend, then why am I so lonely? Let me tell you, legends are all very well if you've got somebody around who loves you."

"Loneliness and the feeling of being unwanted is the most terrible poverty."

Loneliness is a very powerful emotion. It can lead to depression, illness, even suicide. Although it may often hit the old, sick or handicapped people, it is very common among young people too. Why?

Yes! You may need to work hard though! Here are some ideas to think about:

Remember, you are not the only one to feel this way - perhaps 25% of the people around you feel the same. So make the first step!

Do you have an interest or hobby? Find a group or society with this interest and join it.

Even in a stable long-term relationship or marriage, you should still not expect your partner to meet all of your emotional needs. They should certainly meet many of your needs, because your partner should be your best friend. But you should also have a network of good relationships with other friends, giving and taking help and support.

It can be easy to live out our lives through the imaginary relationships in films, TV, books, or even arm-length relationships on the Internet. These aren't real! TV and film characters do not act and talk like real people! It is an imaginary world, very different from the real one. Live in the real world!

To be wanted and needed, is a big answer to loneliness. Is there any way you can help other people? Can you volunteer to do something? Hospital visiting, visiting old people, assist an advice centre, an inner city help program - the list is endless. Or just learn to be a listening person who can understand how other people feel, and help them. In helping other people, we find friends and lose loneliness!

Don't wait for someone to phone (or write/email) you - you contact them. And if they seem too busy, it doesn't mean they are rejecting you. Try another time!

If you have been hurt as a child through emotional abuse, or difficult relationships with parents, don't bury those feelings. It is possible to find victory over these hurts.

Why do we feel alone ?10

2008-08-15, 20:22
Look brother looking to the persons around us it seems that there is no one but deeply i feel that i am not alone because i believe that ALLAH is always with me in everything...I swear that after the death of my mom i thought that there are a lot of people around me,but to my surprise i found my self alone...The only thing i made is asking THE ALLMIGHTY for help and comfort, from that day i discovered that i have to see my self alone but surrounded by the pleasure of feeling that ALLAH is everywhere at anytime by my side...

Do we feel alone even when we are with people

أم بدر الدين
2008-08-16, 19:26
Look sometimes the presence of people itself makes you feel that you are in a deep solitude especially when you can't be involved in their discussions because you are not like them --different minds and thoughts--myself i hate being too much with people because i am used to spend much more time with my small family

My advice is**alot of people around you cause much more troubles**so

are there kinds of loneliness?0

أم بدر الدين

Types of loneliness

A brief glance at the literature suggests that there are 5 different types of loneliness with generous amounts of overlap.

State loneliness. This type of loneliness is found among people who have lost an important attachment. It can be short lived like a day long separation or lengthy as in the break-up of a love affair. Most people experiencing this type of loneliness can be proactive and take measures to correct the situation or ameliorate it by finding a way “to amuse” themselves until the feeling dissipates.
Trait loneliness. Those experiencing this type of loneliness are often people who have difficulty forming attachments or creating social networks for themselves. they badly wish to have an important person in their life but are often too frightened to let down their defenses.
Emotional loneliness. This occurs, like state loneliness, due to the loss of an attachment figure such as a husband, mother or friend.
Social loneliness. this occurs due to the lack of a viable social network
Existential loneliness. This is the recognition that we are all alone in facing our selves and death. This spiritual phenomenon can be the seed of dread and/or a spiritual awakening.

Loneliness

Being apart and lonely is like rain.
It climbs toward evening from the ocean plains;
from flat places, rolling and remote, it climbs
to heaven, which is its old abode.
And only when leaving heaven drops upon the city.

It rains down on us in those twittering
hours when the streets turn their faces to the dawn,
and when two persons who have found nothing,
disapointed and depressed, roll over;
and when two people who despise eachother
have to talk to eachother-

that is when loneliness receives the rivers...

أم بدر الدين
2008-08-19, 12:00
There are many ways according to what i see like building a deep relation with ALLAH and the Quran ,that makes you feel that you will never be alone, besides spending much more time with your wife and children ;i have never felt that i am bored nor had the feeling of loneliness..

Ok, now I understand what was the reason for your other posting in which you mentioned you are sad. To be honest with you sister, I am originally from Djelfa and believe me I would not care about the stars. I am not posting here to earn them but I am doing so to earn you all as friends and you are my stars. Take it easy, but to be fair I would say your raised point is logic.

أم بدر الدين

I don't think so 'cause we are born as white papers and our parents write whatever they want on these papers**education ;feelings , personal qualities...
This means that loneliness comes with the type of education given to the child
