concerning linguistics im sure it will be easy somehow in the exams especially for us the first year besides, the teachers know that linguistics always gives the students the creeps , so i suppose they will try to make it easy, you should focus on morfphology; phonemes, allophones, morphemes(free, bound), allomorphs........etc
phonetics the main thing you should recvise well the transcribtion and some definitions
phonology , phonetics, diffrence between them, ....... etc

:sdf::sdf:

This is a brief explanation because the subject is not wide
An adverb of frequency is an adverb that tells how often things happen or occur.
Examples:
I always get up at 7 am.
. she rarely gets out the house with her father
he often takes lunch at this restaurant.

So every adverb that you feel it serves to that sense is an adverb of frequency.

in English grammar, ‘would’ is a modal verb, or modal. Modals give a special meaning to a verb, and they are always followed by the bare infinitive form of the verb, in other words, the infinitive without ‘to’. So, for example, it is wrong to say ‘I would to like a cup of coffee’, and it is correct to say ‘I would like a cup of coffee.’

Here are the meanings of “ would”:

Meaning 1: We use ‘would’ as a more polite form of 'will' in requests and offers.
Examples: Would you mind closing the window?
Would you like some help?
Would you like me to carry your bags?
Would your daughter like a drink of water?
.
Meaning 2: We use both 'would' and 'should' in the same way for giving advice.
Examples: I wouldn't be concerned about it, if I were you. (note: here, we can also say ‘I shouldn’t be concerned about it if I were you,’ and it means ‘I advise you not to be concerned about it.’)
If I were him, I’d be more careful when riding my bicycle in traffic!

.
Meaning 3: 'Would rather' or 'would sooner' are used to show that you prefer to have or do one thing more than another.
Examples: I'd rather have a coffee than a tea, thanks.
Which would you sooner do - play football or go for a walk?
Wouldn't you rather finish it this morning?

.

Meaning 4: Would is used with ‘if’ in conditional sentences that refer to an unreal, theoretical situation in the present, past or future.
Examples: “What would you do if you were very rich?” “If I had a lot of money, I would travel around the world.” (note: in this example, the person is not rich now.)
If I had been there earlier, I would have seen you before you left. (note: the reality here is that I was not there earlier and so I did not see you before I left.)

.
Meaning 5: 'Would' is the past of ‘will’. We use it to talk about what someone was willing to do or what something was able to do.
Examples: My daughter wouldn't get out of bed this morning.
The van would not start again today.

.

Meaning 6: We use ‘would’ to refer to an intention from the point of view of the past. We also use it with this meaning when we are reporting what someone else has said.
Examples: He said he would write to her every week (note: his actual words were "I will write to you every week".).
They promised that they would fix it. (note: their actual words were "We promise that we will fix it".)
I couldn’t find anyone who would help me (note: this means “I couldn’t find anyone who was willing to help me.”)
I asked her to explain, but she wouldn’t (note: this means that she refused to explain.)
.
Meaning 7: We use ‘would’ to talk about actions (not states) in the past that happened often or always.
Examples: Every morning, my grandmother would water her flowers. (note: we can also say “Every morning, my grandmother used to water her flowers.”)
When I was a child, we would play in the park every evening after school. (note: we can also say “When I was a child, we used to play in the park every evening after school.”)
It is incorrect to say “When I was a child we would live in the countryside”, because living is a state, not an action. It is correct to say “When I was a child we used to live in the countryside”.
.
Meaning 8: We use ‘would’ to suggest that what happens is expected because it is typical, especially of a person's behaviour, and also that we disapprove of it
Examples: "Philip called to say he’ll be an hour late." "He would – he’s always late!"
I’ve lost my phone so I couldn’t call you.” “ You would! How many phones have you lost now? ”

hi everybody.I hope you're doing well. unfortunately i missed some sessions in linguistics module some my question is about the difference between free and bound morpheme. take care and see you later .

definition: a morpheme is the smallest meaningfull unit of a word
types: free morpheme is the part of the word that can stand alone. Eg: the word "bear" is a free morpheme because it can stand alone and gives a complete meaning
bound morpheme is the part of the word that can not stand alone, generally it is the affixes i.e the prefixes and the suffixes
Eg: un, dis, able, the's' of plural , the 's' of a verb conjugated with he,she,it....etc
let's take the word 'bear' which is a free morpheme, we say: he bears the cold
here the 's' is a bound morpheme
- a bound morpheme can be derivational or inflectional
it is derivational when it changes the class of th word i.e from a noun to a verb, from an adjective to an adverb and so on......
Eg: let's take the first example the word 'bear' it is a verb, we say : this situation is no longer bearable
here 'able' is a derivational morpheme since it changes the class of the word from a verb to an adjective
the bound morpheme can be also inflectional when it does not change the class of the word
Eg: i saw a lot of birds
here 's' is inflectional bound morpheme since it does not change the class of the word i.e 'bird' is a noun and remains a noun by adding the 's'of plural
-allomormphs are the different variations of a morpheme
Eg: the final 's' can be pronounced as 'z' , 's' or 'iz
the morpheme 'ed' of the regular verbs past can be pronounced as 'd', 't' and 'id
......the end.....
i hope i could help by these information

French(in jijel we study Italian) and computing(statistics) modules also will be included also..I'm not pretty sure about it but I'll check it out later inchaallah and give you more details

Hi there ! so ... speaking about second year .. i guess we had in the first semester 11 modules ( as far as i remember but each university is different).. the second year is really the big thing ... i remember we had in ''fondamental unitée'' Grammar / oral Expression (in my university we take oral first then phontetics second in the second semester) / linguistics / civilisation (british one then American one)/ Literature (british one then American one) / written expression/ ESP (English for specific purposes)/
''Unitée transversal= decouverte'' = Deutch / computer science ( in french)/ French / Arabic (linguistics in arabic) /

Hello,
I'm new here in this forum and i'd like sooo much to make friendship with you all..But it'd be easier if one of you create a groupe on faceb...
I don't think writting is an real issue, there is reading which needs to be improved and it's issential well at least it is to me hehe one told me and very grateful for him and for giving me a view for what we're going to study and so, he said exams can be a text..

I am a new student and I need your help

plz

thanks

first, i congratulate you for your success in the bac exams
and i say that you did well choosing to study english langua.ge and litterature
normally you're going to study 11 modules: grammar,linguistics,litterary reading,phonetics,research methodology,civilization,written expression, oral expression,ESP (english for specific purposes),computing,french
for the coefficients i remember that all the modules is 2 exept the three last modules i mentioned which are 1
