عندما يكون الفعل الذي يسبق الحاضنتين في الحاضر مثل says,tells, الفعل الموجود في الكلام لا يتغير بل يبقى في الحاضر كما هو الحال في المثال السابق عند وجود فعل says الفعل am في الحاضر لم يتغير في الحديث الغير مباشر بقي في الحاضر is

عندما يكون الفعل الذي يسبق الحاضنتين في الماضي مثل :

عندما يوجد الفعل في الماضي مثل said ,told ,asked في الحديث الغير مباشر يصرف الفعل الثاني في الماضي مثل get up في الحديث المباشر هو في الحاضر اذن بوجود said تحول في الحديث الغير مباشر الى got up هو في الماضي .
