According to Islam, Astrology is the scientific study of stars for determining and fixing time division such as months and seasons and directions. In modern times, this is lawful because it is perceived by the senses and fixed calculations, which can help determine the times of prescribed prayers, and other religious duties that should be observed at certain times.

ALLAH has informed us of His intended purpose for the stars: to guide mankind in the right path and to drive away evil satanic forces that might disrupt one' life in this world of ours.

"And the Sun runneth on unto a resting place for him .That is the measuring of the mighty, the wise. And for the Moon, we have appointed mensions till she returns like an old shrivelled palm leaf. It is not for the sun to overtake the Moon, nor doth the nights outstrips the day. They float each in an orbit." (Surah X X X VI. verse 38,39,and 40). These verse prove the well ordained and well knit mechanism of Allah's creation.

At another place He says, "He is who appointed the Sun a splendour and the Moon a light and measured for her stages that he might know the number of the years, and the reckoning. Allah has created not (all) that save in truth.

We find that in the Holy Quran, in several verses, Almighty has asked and encouraged mankind to look into and ponder over the objects of his creation, including the heaven, the stars and the Moon, in orders the understand his signs and thereby his supreme might, glory and greatness.

Mention in regard to Astrology or the influence of planets and stars is found in the Holy Quran in connection with Pharaoh, who was warned of the birth of Prophet Moses.

As a consequence of the prediction by the court astrologers of King Namrood who Predicted birth of Prophet Ibrahim so much so that they predicted accurately the conception of Prophet Ibrahim in spite of the best efforts of the King Namrood to prevent it.

The Islaamic Ruling on Horoscopes

Assalaamu Alaikum Wa Ramatullah Wabarakatuh Brothers and Sisters ,
Visiting an astrologer and listening to his predictions, buying books on astrology or reading one's horoscope are forbidden. Since astrology is mainly used to predicting the future, those who practice it are considered fortunetellers. Consequently, one who seeks his horoscope comes under the ruling contained in the Prophet's http://www.geocities.com/kkhaan/images/saws.gif statement: 'He who visits a soothsayer ('Arraf) and asks him about anything, his prayers extending to forty nights will not be accepted [Saheeh Muslim (http://www.usc.edu/dept/MSA/fundamentals/hadithsunnah/muslim/) Book 026 (http://www.usc.edu/dept/MSA/fundamentals/hadithsunnah/muslim/026.smt.html), Number 5540 (http://www.usc.edu/dept/MSA/fundamentals/hadithsunnah/muslim/026.smt.html#026.5540)]

The punishment in this hadeeth is simply for approaching the asking the astrologer, even if one is in doubt about the truth of his statements. If one is in doubt about the truth or falsehood of astrological information, he is in doubt about whether or not others know the unseen and the future besides Allaah. This is a form of shirk because Allaah clearly stated: "And with Him are the keys of the Ghaib (all that is hidden), none knows them but He. And He knows whatever there is in (or on) the earth and in the sea; not a leaf falls, but he knows it. There is not a grain in the darkness of the earth nor anything fresh or dry, but is written in a Clear Record." [Surah Al-An'am (http://www.thenoblequran.com/sps/nbq/nq.cfm?scn=vs&display=10&surah=6&start=1) (The Cattle) Verse 59 (http://www.thenoblequran.com/sps/nbq/nq.cfm?scn=vs&display=10&surah=6&start=59)]

Why do some people believe in horoscope?1

أم بدر الدين
2008-07-10, 13:24
I am totally sure that they believe in horoscope because they are not too attached to ALLAH
They all know that we can 't predict the future but they do it on purpose to compensate the emptiness that they fee
Besides it has become a bad habit, some people bye the newspaper only for the sake of horoscope..
May ALLAH protect us

I do agree with you
Here comes the role of Imams who have to inform people that this is "SHIRK"0

أم بدر الدين
2008-07-10, 14:05
Believe me sir that people do know that it is **SHIRK** 0 BUT they insist .
Do you know why???? 0
They can 't be honest with themselves ,they are not able to convince themselves that the way of ALLAH is the right way which will make them happy for the rest of their lives. 0
What can i say ,they don 't know that life is too short..it doesn't deserve all this pain..0
