READ THE TEXT CAREFULLY THEN DO THE ACTIVITIES
As the Greek historian Herodotus once said ‘Egypt of the gift of the Nile’, the Nile River was the ancient Egyptians’ best friend even it did flood every year. In the fall, the great river would overflow its banks. At first the Egyptians lost their crops their houses and in some cases their lives. However, the Egyptian people noticed after a time that the floods came about the same time every year, in June. Therefore, they planned: they would make sure nothing important was on the banks of the river when it was time for the flood
Then after the water level went back down, they would quickly plant new crops. The floods brought good fresh soil up onto the land .This soil was ideal for planting grains.
The river also gave them the chance to fish. The Egyptians would build boats out of the wood and sail up and down the river. They would use spears and nets to catch fish as well as birds that flew close to the surface of the water.
The Nile also provided protection from attack. People wanting to invade Egypt would have first to cross the river, which was very wide in places. The Egyptians could stand on their own side of the river and throw spears at their r attackers. Any attacker who did cross the river was likely to be tired from making the crossing.
Another important way that the Nile helped the ancient Egyptians was in trade. Goods went to and from the Egypt down an up the Nile, which had its mouth at the Mediterranean sea . [PERSONAL REFERENCE]

les diverse période de notre Histoire Nationale ont chacune marqué un progrès par rapport à celles qui les avaient précédées : progrès dans les structures de la société , dans la manière de concevoir et de conduire le travail productif dans les idées , dans la composition du peuplement ; c'est ce progrès continu , incessant quand On considère l'ensemble des siècles , que la nouvelle doctrine de notre Histoire National doit montrer .

les événements historiques particuliers , les invasions , les duels entre dynasties , les découragements et les déceptions que le peuple connait par moment , ne sont en eux - même que des épisodes plus ou moins long mais c'est leur signification qui compte et qu'il importe de saisir , et c'est vers les institutions , vers l'aptitude de la communauté national à vaincre les difficultés et les obstacles , fussent -ils grands et de longue durée , à conserver son intégrité et sa force de cohésion , malgré les modification qu'elle subit , que le regard dois se porter

c'est de très loin que la nation prend racine , mais seul le temps , les siècle lui permettent de se forger lentement et de parvenir à maturité , en rassemblant les éléments épars , en réduisant la diversité à l'unité . ( ..... ) il importe donc de dépasser les " catégorie " et les " divisions " de notre Histoire proposées jusque là ; et de voir plutôt , donc la fusion des éléments ethniques dans les transformations économiques successives , dans les conséquences générales des invasions ou des conquêtes , dans la lutte des couches populaire , dans la naissance des villes ; c'est phénomènes essentiels qui doivent retenir l'attention et susciter la passion de comprendre

Puisqu'aussi bien les historiens romains puis les historiens maghrébins n'ont pu que rendre compte de leurs époque particulières , puisque les historiens français et européens ont avant tout travaillé dans le sens que la colonisation imprimait à leur pensée , il appartient aux historiens algériens seuls , de construire la synthèse finale , la plus valable , celle qui épouse la ligne véritable de l'histoire de leur pays
