forests can be found in all regions capable of sustaining tree growth , except where natural fire frequency is too high ,or where the environment has been impaired by natural processes or by human activities .
forest influence climate change by affecting the amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere . when forests grow , carbon is removed from the atmosphere and absorbed in wood , leaves and soil.this carbon remains stored in forest ecosystem,but can be released into the atmosphere when forests are burned.
