الإسم هو كلمة تستعمل لتسمية شخص, مكان,شيء,أو فكرة. مثال: أستاذ, منزل, لون, الحياة, كتاب, حقيقة

تصنيفات الأسماء

ِ1- Common nouns and proper nouns:
A noun that names a particular person, place, or thing is a proper noun. Proper nouns begin with capital letters. All other nouns are common nouns.

Proper nouns: Ahmed/Iraq/Statue of Liberty

Common nouns:man/country/statue

الأسماء الخاصة أو أسماء العلم والأسماء العامة

الإسم الذي يسمي شخص معين أو مكان شيء هو إسم علم أو إسم خاص. إسم العلم يبدأ دائما بحرف كبير. أما باقي الأسماء فهي أسماء عامة

أسماء عامة: رجل/دولة/تمثال
