Hi, guys I'm here to talk about something that irritates me very much. I have a degree in English ********, I graduated in 2013, since then I started to question my English level, and sometimes I think my English is weak. Lately I started to teach middle school puples( not full time job) and I want to loose that feeling of weakness.I'm not saying that I can't teach puples, but I want my English to be good like a native speaker.So, is there any teacher here who have or had that feeling in any time of his career ? And what do you suggest ?

I gradutaed in 2011 .... I had the chance to teach at my first time in a secondary school in January 2012 and I felt weak in the begining coz i was new and the administration gave me 4 classes of 3rd year and one of 2nd year lph but after that I found it suitable and got used to the work then I never worked till last year which was my best year coz I developed so many thing especially speaking this later is not easy to acquire and it comes with many thing like for me :
I memorized rap songs and recorded them only the voice it affected my way of speaking.
I spoke to myself like a crazy man
I read texts a lot
there are two important things about speaking;
personality (self confidence - shyness)
subject knowing if you don't know the subject you are talking about you can't carry on
that's the real reason behind weakness in speaking skills
good luck

Hello!
According to my short experience as a teacher, I have noticed that a fluent speaker is a good listener,so to
improve your speaking skill you should follow the tips below:
-listen more and more to documentries, debates,conversations,songs even to movies in english.
-use the option listen and repeat then correct yourself checking the right pronunciation of the words you heared the first time in dictionary.the latest must be your friend.
-speak english with your friends and family members.i.e: in your daily life.
-to speak fluently you have to be accurate ,it means you must learn every thing about english grammar and
read to enrich your vocabulary.
-express yourself using short simple sentences gradually you will be able to use long complex ones.
-neglect your shy ,believe in your capacities and work on yourself Ithink you will do it.
notice: it's just a modest personel effort.you may ask for more help.

Hi, guys!! You know the real problem here is I'm a perfectionist man, I want to be as fluent as a native speaker, and I don't have problems talking to non native speakers.
Anyway, thank you for being so nice and helpful.

Hello,
I forgot to mention listening it helps a lot to develop speaking because as we have studied there are four skills
speaking and writing, listening and reading
the first are productive skills and the second are receptive skills and these later are more important to any one who is trying to speak and write it means we can't write without reading too much and learn from others how to write and we can't speak without knowing how words are pronounced and of course listening is the key I advise you to listen to BBC, Euronews everyday don't exhaust yourself just step by step but in regular way then movies and songs comes later because they're sung in dialect english and this later contain some words that only native speakers know ....
good luck again

Peace be upon you;
I'm happy to hear that but upset too, to hear that you're not working right now after 5 years of career as a substitute teacher well I have never taught intermediate school students butI taught in a secondary school twice and it seems to me that I need to experience teaching in the intermeidate school and I met some teachers and took the yearly syllabus of Ms2, 3 and 4 so as to prepare my lesson plans but I didn't understand how to start and you know it's not like the seconday school lesson plans. If time is suiatble we'll specify a thread for this matter and discuss them inshallah

Hello !
I have just read your comment.Thank you so much.
Comparing to secondary schools, teaching english in middle schools is more difficult because you are dealing with learners who have never studied english before,so your most important role will be to minimize their fear towards it and convince them that's easy to learn it . besides , you should simplify things. step by step your pupils will find it more interesting and enjoyable than they think.
In middle schools we teach listen and speak; read and write and pronunciation.for more benefits a new thread where to discuss and exchange our experiences that concern teachig english in both middle and secondary schools is a good idea.
notice: Iam so sorry to not respect capitalization and punctuation

Hello,
Well this is my idea about teaching middle school coz it's easy to teach someone who's a background about something I personally noticed that when i taught 1st year students a lesson about reported speech they told me they hadn't seen that lesson the previous years. Make sure we will run a discussion about lesson plans coz I want to learn from teachers in real life they keep their experience (if it exists) to themselves they don't share and pretend they don't have time and this is how Algeria's majority of teachers are doing.
No don't be sorry for punctuation and captilisation me too I don't respect it I feel lazy somehow haha besides this is not an official or a formal writing to include these things correct grammar is enough for me!
