Expressing Time:I'm going to try my best and explain it briefly using simple words

When we want to express time we use these:when,before,after ,as soon as,until

Bear in mind that with the conjuction when the verbs will be conjugated in the past simple,but with the remaining conjunctions

that is to say (before,after,as soon as,and until) the verb of the very first action is going to be put in the past perfect ,while the verb

of the second action is going to be put in the past simple

PS:Please,try to be serious,I need interaction ,I want you to be dynamic not sleepy and lazy

Expression Concession

To express concession use the following connectors:although,though,in spite of the fact that,despite the fact that

eg:Although Maria is clever,she didn't receive a scholarship

Or


Though Maria is clever,she didn't receive a scholarship

We can use the 2 connectors despite the fact that,is spite of the fact that with the same sentence given


PS:there is no activity for that lesson because the connectors are similar and can be used with the same sentence

Anyways,today's lesson has to do with phonetics

Syllables

The number of syllables in the word is governed by the number of vowels ,but bear in mind we mean by vowels here the ones that we pronounce

For instance:cat .We have 1 vowel ,that is to say 1 syllable
Again,let's take the word gate.We have 2 vowels ,but we pronounce just the a so there is a single syllable



Examples

eg2:the word age,here we have 1 syllable too ,you will say how there are 2 vowels and so on

when the vowel is placed at the end,it does not matter,in this situation we should transcribe the word
that's why,you should master transcription

eg3:the word good,here we have 1 syllable because when a vowel follows a vowel ,it doesn't matter

eg4:the word ethics we have 2 syllables because we have 2 vowels i and e

eg5:the word politics,we have 3 syllables po and li and tics

so,you notice that we divide them according to vowels

In brief,syllables depend on vowels
when you have 1 vowel in a word,it means there is 1 syllable
if we have 2 vowels after each other,they are just 1 vowels,thus 1 syllable eg:free
or 2 vowels ,1 in the middle and the others at the end ,it means 1 syllable eg:nice
