“Death Row”

All I have is a pen writing down on the paper
Living a life with pain; am I a writer or a rapper?
Hands splashed with ink, papers full of lyrics
Tears in the eye so much pain, have ya get it
All I know is I gotta message; read between the lines!
Why do I suffer in my country? Am I a resident aliens?
Have been searching for job, meant to be undesirable
I don’t trust the government it’s unreliable
I still remember when my mommy told me go to school
So as to become a legendary a man who won’t skew
The thing I could not get is why my daddy was nervous
I was still a little kid I couldn’t bear it I was so novice
Victim of bad life turned him sad and hopeless
My daddy was educated but the dude was jobless
He was disappointed that I’d face what he faced
As a matter of fact, I’m facing exactly what he faced
The Death Row, Death Row

This ain’t living, set me free or kill me
Give me the freedom you keep bragging with on TV
We’ve been thrown up on the Death Row, Death Row
While the VIP thugs and murders are made safe and free

We had an Algerian dream but it was stolen, stolen, stolen
The good living’s rope we were holding, holding, holding
They cut it down, people died in a dozen, dozen, dozen
Yeah, it’s my destiny and we were chosen, chosen, chosen
Money brings happiness; I count money on my mind
You’ll absolutely disagree coz you didn’t live mine
If you have the dough you’ll be treated so kind
If you don’t have it, you’ll be kept behind, off-line
Money talks, money talks; People judge by the aspects
Long nights, deep thinking seeking for a prospect
Projects being kept in my chest, I read a lot till I slept
To get a fortune like James Gatz, the fat cat, the fat cat
Get rich or die trying, no matter you try you’ll be kept low
It’s another face of racism in here; we’ve a lot of Jim Crow
And I cry when they say Algerians are the happiest people, Oh!
The same people are made cripple in this Death Row, Death Row.

This ain’t living, set me free or kill me
Give me the freedom you keep bragging with on TV
We’ve been thrown up on the Death Row, Death Row
While the VIP thugs and murders are made safe and free

Brothers and sisters in strikes everywhere they scream
They are seeking for job their right turned to a dream
Wasted their time on studies for a couple of years
The government suppresses them using all the means
Here the peaceful protests are defined as a rebellion
If you got hungry don’t show up in the street yelling
Coz the feds won’t bless ya and any other civilian
They won’t hesitate to kill even if ya were in a million
And the police will stick your head on the concrete
Tell you: if ya show up here again you’ll lose your teeth
Tell ‘em: give me my rights and you won’t see me in the street
Then you wake up in a hospital lucky you were not killed
That’s why I don’t wanna marry, I don’t wanna raise kids
I don’t wanna see them suffer just like the way I did
I don’t wanna make ‘em disappointed and face what I faced
In case I become a daddy and face what my daddy faced;
The Death Row, Death Row

This ain’t living, set me free or kill me
Give me the freedom you keep bragging with on TV
We’ve been thrown up on the Death Row, Death Row
While the VIP thugs and murders are made safe and free

Though the people of the south are modest and humble
These people are losing victims, anybody stops the trouble?
Tribes have been always together, who caused the struggle?
It’s an explicit matter, why does the first minister fumble?
It's all about a Dream (http://www.djelfa.info/vb/showthread.php?t=1351102) again, I undercover like James bond
Exterminating my enemies sending them some parcel bombs
Criminal Mind (http://www.djelfa.info/vb/showthread.php?t=1356161) thought is too heavy as much as King Kong
The Don Until I'm gone (http://www.djelfa.info/vb/showthread.php?t=912622)I keep saying what’s right and wrong
I feel anger everyday life in here is so disgusting
Some mentalities need to be thrown up in a dust bin!
Fashion is the main rule boys look like freaky Justin
Hello! Hello! This justifies the mad rap that I’m blasting
It’s the life quiz; in this life I lead too many heart bleed
In the cold streets the good decreased, devil increased
Moralities deceased, authorities made the brains freeze
Profanity is widespread; we just lost our keys;
It’s a Death Row, Death Row.

This ain’t living, set me free or kill me
Give me the freedom you keep bragging with on TV
We’ve been thrown up on the Death Row, Death Row
While the VIP thugs and murders are made safe and free

This ain’t living just give me my rights, my rights, rights
Give me my freedom I wanna live in peace, in peace, peace
I wanna live I wanna live like the Europeans,
Just give me my rights, give me my rights
Give me my rights, my rights, rights…

Words Explanation

Death Row = the cells in a prison for prisoners who are waiting to be killed as punishment for a serious crime. Our serious crime is that we simply objected exploitation and asked for our rights; as a result we’re punished now living this sick life in our country.
Resident aliens = a person from another country who has permission to stay in the US.
VIP = ‘Very Important Person’ who is treated in a special way.
Algerian Dream = it’s the dream of people to live peacefully, have rights of work, education…etc.
Money talks = people who have a lot of money have more power and influence than others.
James Gatz = Jay Gatsby, a character in a story (Great Gatsby) who has become very rich through illegal activities, and his attempts to win back his former lover Daisy Buchanan. The man was poor his father was a farmer. Gatsby wanted to be wealthy and get respect hence he did what he did, the story is cool you’d better read it.
Fat Cat = Smug, selfish and greedy the businessman/woman who exploits their position for their own personal gain at the cost of the businesses or community.
Jim Crow = the policy of segregation or unfair treatment of African Americans in hotels, restaurants, businesses, etc. The name came from the title of a song that was sung in musical shows by white entertainers who tried to look and sound like African Americans.
