مشاهدة النسخة كاملة : Is it appropriate to flood threads with thanks?
Every member may have noticed that almost
every thread posted on this forum is followed by
a stream of "thank you" replies. Surprisingly,
even if the subject is a debate and implies
questions or comments, even-though, many
viewers keep replying with "thank you" messages,
to the extent to waste the time of someone who want
to comment --- as this latter needs to check whether his/her
comment have already been posted/answered!
Just browse some reknown forums and notice if such
practice is prevalent?
Thank you for considering this comment, if you want.

Yep i noticed that as well
well i guess all they want is to get more replies to their standings
so they can get a higher rank (placement) or something
:p
well i see a point here
methinks that admins should ban such a way of reply in order to minimize the extent to which sources are wasted
a "thanks" ,if rife, can be trite :) :)
thank you for bring that forth

Well, in my opinion, the main reason for this is the restriction of '30 participations before you can post' that the website oblidge, which leaves new members with no other choice but to post those "thank you" comments

I did not post one thank you message, and here i am.
There are many alternative options to reply to a post: correction, addition, question, answer, critic, opinion, ... Likewise the post is beneficial to every body and not boring as when crowded with lazy replies (thanks).

I do agree with you brother that (thank you) annoys me I find it every where
I witnessed another inconvenience of "thank you" and " you are welcome" replies.
This latter is really annoying and frustrating at the same time.
On a history forum, there were two threads with unfounded information.
As usual, these posts received plenty of "thanks"/"you're welcome" replies.
In both threads, a member started a good discussion about the claims laid down by the authors.
Strangely, the folk kept praising the authors, probably because they did not get chance to read
the discussion since the first page of replies has only parasite messages and thus the viewers
may have assumed the remaining is likewise ( I do not rule out the possibility that many do not
care about the discussion and just grad whatever they came across, yet they deserve the benefit of the doubt).
What was weird further is that one of the authors kept welcoming people, who praised his topic,
instead of acknowledging the flaws that were risen up or counter-arguing if he could at all.
This way, the forum is voided of an essential purpose which is matters discussion and
the pursuit of truth.
the forum forces that sometimes , like for new members they can't put links or upload photos unless they have 30 contributions and they need 60 to just contact one of the supervisors,
with all respect but i think it's kinda stupid

This point has already been raised and discussed earlier ^^,
and by the way your own reply to this thread illustrates that "thank you" is
not the only reply option nor the appropriate.
You may have missed what has been said in previous replies even though they are few and relevant.
Imagine if this thread was flooded with "thank you"; it would be more likely that either
you miss what has already been said or that your reply will be unseen.
