elle permetent au sang veineux arrivant aux poumons de se charger en o2 et de debarasser son co2

elle costitué par :
- le surfactant
- epithélium alveolaire
- membrane basale de épithelium alveolaire
-une mince couche de tissu interstitiel
-membrane basal capilaire et un endothelium capillaire
