Epic
We say an epic for instandce when a film or a novel is so long and full of events especially when it deals with hstory
it's also an adjective means Heroic and impressive.
Precisely an epic = contains a historical themes

Fable
a very short story contains morals based on reality only real events

Anecdote
a short funny story

folktales

i guess this one is clear from its name it's narrated by folks to their sons after they had been told about them from their ancesstors
this kind of folktales are traditional so more precisely we can say
a folktale is a traditional tales specified only special regions

Fairy Tales
is short stories full of adventure and imagination and they are for children
