يختلف فن النحت في أسلوبه عن باقي الفنون فهو لا يتعامل مع الأشكال المسطحة مثل فن التصوير وإنما يتضمن أشكال مجسمة ذات أبعاداًً ثلاثية، نجد أن المتعة الفنية التي تتصل بأعمالالنحت لا تأتي من خلال المشاهدة فقط وإنما عن طريق الملمس والحركة المجسمة أيضاًً ويشكل النحات الأعمال بيديه التي هي أقدر الوسائل لنقل الحس الفني العالي باللمس، إلي جانب استخدامه لبعض الخامات التي تنقل لدينا الإحساس بواقعية الشكل المنحوت ومن هذه الخامات: .
