Contractions

Hello every body how are you doing, as usual another few examples about some words we generally find during reading. We all have seen these kind of words for example: don’t, doesn’t do you have nay idea how we call this kind of words most of us call them “abbreviations “ but the answer is no. They are called “Contractions” too simply it’s a short form of a word.


isn’t = is not
aren’t = are not
wasn’t = was not
weren’t = were not
won’t = will not
don’t = do not
doesn’t = does not
hasn’t = has not
haven’t = have not
hadn’t = had not
can’t = cannot
couldn’t = could not
wouldn’t = would not

I’ve = I have

gonna = going to
kinda = kind of
lotta = lot of
lotsa= lots of
i'mma = i'm gonna
i coulda been = I could've been

how can we distinguish between it's (to be in the present simple ) and it's ( to have in the present simple )

well it depends on the word that follows them and the meaning too
to be in the present simple is followed by ( a + noun / adjective)
to have in the present simple is followed by ( a + noun / verb + ing / verb (past participle {passive voice}
