Track Description
In an industrial, economical and social context with an increasing competition, several parameters affect the
choices and the decisions of production systems. These parameters are from different natures: the facility ********,
the technology to implement, the production management, the production systems dimensioning, the supply chain
management and the global organization. In this context, production managers look to exploit in an optimal and
flexible way their systems in order to produce goods with the lowest costs and with the highest quality. Based on
that, several production facilities are more and more interested in the optimization of their systems. This
optimization goes through the resolution of different kinds of problems related for example to operational
management by scheduling tasks in complex configurations, strategic decisions by designing production or
assembly lines, flexible manufacturing systems, facility layouts, multi-family production planning, stock inventory
and many other problems.
This track deals with the latest developments and methods proposed to solve the above problems by trying to
optimize different objectives and taking in consideration different constraints.
The track gathers three sessions dealing with the following topics:

Short presentation: Because of globalization, competition between industries and services is becoming more and harder. Because nowadays economy is customer driven, time response becomes one important issue. Among criteria conditioning this time response to customer needs, performance of warehousing systems is of a great concern. Automated Storage and Retrieval Systems (AS/RS) are considered as the best alternatives for efficient warehousing systems. In this context, this special track is proposed. All contributions concerning AS/RS are welcome, especially and not limited to:
• Modeling, optimization and simulation of AS/RS
• Control of AS/RS (heuristics, ****heuristics and new methods of control…)
• Design of new AS/RS
• Applications of AS/RS (manufacturing, logistics, services, e-commerce…)

Session Description
Scheduling is one of the most important areas in operational research. As far as production systems
become more and more complex, the hardness of their associated models is growing up. These industrials
cases create some special constraints or limitations which need dedicated methods. This special session
aims to shows the recent trends in complex shops modelling and scheduling. The methods used to solve
this kind of system are numerous (approximated as ****heuristics, heuristics … or exact methods as :
branch and bound, two phases method …). Every original contribution concerning production scheduling
will be considered.
Session Topics (not limited to):
· Scheduling of complex shops (parallel stages, reentrant process, …)
· Deterministic as well as stochastic scheduling (processing time, …)
· Maintenance scheduling (availability, maintenance tasks, …)
· ****heuristics (genetic algorithm, ant colony systems, particle swarm optimization, …)

Session Description
The manufacturers of production and assembly lines try to achieve optimal design of their developments
in order to get the highest performances with the lowest costs. This session presents the latest
contributions in the field of production and assembly lines design. Different sub-problems as buffers
sizing or line balancing may be discussed. Additionally performances evaluations using different
techniques (Simulation, Petri nets, Markov chains …) may be presented. We are interested essentially in
the optimization techniques of the design problems. These techniques could be exact methods (branch and
bound, two phase method …), heuristics or based on ****heuristics (genetic algorithms, ant colony …).
They could be also based on a single or multi objective optimization.

Session Description
Nowadays, the current trends indicate that efficient manufacturing systems must adapt quickly to the
market fluctuations (random demand, random lead time, random yield, ...) and the internal perturbation
(machine breakdowns, quality problem, …). The machines must be able to manufacture several types of
products simultaneously and effectively. In this context, the optimal planning of production with the
maximum of the system availability is becoming increasingly worrying for investors, producers and
consumers.
The challenges of this session are the consideration of new integrated maintenance/scheduling problems.
Generally theses two objectives are contradictory, and so to solve the joint scheduling and maintenance
problems’ offers the possibility to find the compromise between theses two objectives.

Session Description
Production systems represent large investments for most industries and as a result of increasing competitive
requirements many industrial companies have embarked on process improvement programs that often include the
redesign of their manufacturing processes.
The optimal design or reengineering of either existing systems of production or systems in phase of conception is a
difficult task and requires the study of various strongly interdependent problems. It is indeed necessary to structure
the installations, to analyse the constraints, to size and to optimize the configuration of the production system.
The goal of this session is to bring together academic and industrial members concerned by the topic of optimizing
the design of industrial systems under various constraint such as structure cost, space, weight, reliability...etc.
The session is interested by all recent works that investigate the optimal design of reliable systems using
****heuristics and optimization techniques. Works investigating the redundancy al******** problem (RAP) or the
buffer al******** problem (BAP) and broadly all contributions that address the design and optimization of
production systems from a theoretical as well as a practical point of view are welcome. We seek to collect the most
recent advances in ****heuristics, evolutionary algorithms and hybrid techniques which are applied in single
objective or multi objective redundancy al******** and buffer al******** problems in order to achieve optimal
production systems designs.
Session Topics
The scope of the special session includes all topics related to ****heuristics for the design and optimisation of
production systems; it includes but is not limited to:
****heuristics and hybridised ****heuristics developed for solving either single or multi-objective production
systems optimization problems such as:
● Optimal al******** of buffers in transfer lines and production systems of various topologies.
● Optimal al******** of redundancies (RAP) for enhancing systems reliability.
● Optimal design of production structures without buffers.
● Optimal configuration of production systems incorporating active and cold standby redundancies.
● Design and optimization of assembly lines
● Optimal design of systems incorporating elements subject to partial failures (Multi state systems).

The 2nd International Engineering Sciences Conference 2011
24-26 May 2011



The organizing committee of the 1st International Engineering Sciences Conference IESC 2008 is delighted to announce the 2nd IESC 2011 first call for paper. The conference will be held on May 24-26, 2011 at Aleppo University-Syria.



Abstract Deadline

Authors are invited to submit their abstracts written in Arabic or in English of approximately 300 words within the conference theme and tracks.
Submissions must be received by December 13, 2010 for review and authors will be notified of the outcome by January 10, 2011.



Conference Registration Fees

Registration Fees: 200€
Full registration fee includes the Book of Abstracts and an electronic version of the conference proceedings, entrance to all sessions, lunches, coffee breaks, welcome reception and conference dinner.

Présentation et Objectifs
Le secteur du bâtiment et des travaux publics en Algérie est en plein essor, surtout ces dernières années où on a vu l’apparition de chantiers grandioses tels que le projet du million de logements prévu par l’état et celui de l’autoroute est-ouest. Ce grand défi ne peut être relevé que si tous les moyens humains et matériels sont mobilisés. La maîtrise de l’oeuvre nécessite des compétences techniques ainsi qu’une connaissance approfondie du comportement des matériaux, des sols et des superstructures.
Dans le cadre du développement durable et par souci de protection de l’environnement nous serons de plus en plus incité à valoriser les sous produits industriels et naturels ou d’une manière générale les déchets, à gérer les risques liés à la pollution des sols à la non fiabilité et la vulnérabilité des structures ainsi que ceux liés à l’insécurité routière.
Le laboratoire construction transport et protection de l’environnement du département de génie civil a pris l’initiative d’organiser son premier séminaire national sur les matériaux et protection de l’environnement ayant pour objectifs de faire le point sur l’état actuel de la recherche, d’offrir l’opportunité aux chercheurs et aux professionnels de confronter, d’échanger et d’enrichir leurs connaissances dans les différents thèmes proposés.
